What do I produce as an artist and what do I communicate with it? Production in a factory stands in stark contrast with the way I make my work, although I do use the products of industry to create my work. Conveyor belts, different locations in the building that are destined to produce different parts of a product or process raw materials, and how these materials travel through the plant were the materials of my work during the production of this installation.
The self-similar form of the plaster Romanesco sculptures remind of fractals. When looking for fractals on the internet you will find hypnotic colourful renderings based on formulas – visualizations of mathematical functions that seem overly aesthetic. The casting process creates an edge that splits the sculptures in two, reminiscent of the two halves of a brain.
